What is the Dash Diet ?

Dash Diet was born in 1997 as a project to study the U.S. National Institutes of Health to find out how to lower blood pressure (reduce hypertension) under the name of “Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension.”

It is based on the intake of vegetables, fruits, whole grains and low fat dairy and it has been found that besides reducing blood pressure and bad cholesterol levels, helps prevent heart attacks.

It has established itself as the perfect diet to lose weight too, the DASH diet ingredientsare consumption of potassium, magnesium, calcium and consumption of fiber moderately high in protein and low in saturated fat, which is the best regimen to lead a healthy and balanced life.

It contains about 2,000 calories a day but as a resource to lose weight you must reduce your calorie intake to about 1,600, and you can not eat more than seven calories per day of saturated fat and cholesterol should be below 200 mg per day, so meat, sugars and salt are limited.
